In the summer of 1992, Angeles Gonzalez, a student at Texas Woman’s University began to inquire about proper procedures for establishing a new sorority. Thus, Sigma Lambda Alpha/Señoritas Latinas En Acción was established on October 20, 1992 at Texas Woman’s University. Our sacred bond of sisterhood is a life-long bond of love, understanding and friendship.
SLA is unique in the sense that, when you need a supporting framework, we’re here. We give back to not only the Denton community, but anywhere a Senorita can make a difference. We are here to make a positive influence on young women as we represent our letters with pride.
Interested Members:
We are actively seeking ladies with strong values, beliefs, and morals who wish to join our sisterhood of respect, loyalty, and life-long friendships. We are a non-hazing organization. We do not believe in degrading our sisters before allowing them to join our circle. We have a respectable process that allows interested ladies the opportunity to get to know about our sisterhood and organization, as well as concentrate on servicing their community and their individual academic achievement.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.50 or better on a 4.0 scale.
- Have at least 12 college hours completed.
- Be enrolled full time at the undergraduate level
ROSAS Program:
If you currently do not meet the current qualifications, we encourage you to join our chapter’s ROSAS program. The purpose of the ROSAS program; is designed for first semester freshman or ladies that are not sure they want to commit to the Potential New Member process. As an interest in the ROSAS program, you are able to:
- Learn about the sorority and the women that make up the respective chapter.
- Attend at least two ROSAS social events per semester where actives will be in attendance.
- ROSAS get invited to chapter’s events/community service projects that are open to other students/public.
